Kaikado was established in 1875, shortly after opened its doors to the outside world. With Western Civilization came the importing of template from England.
Chazutsu is a cylinder-shaped airtight container. For generations, it has been used to protect foodstuffs, such as green tea leaves, form moisture and humidity. Possessing both function and beauty, chazutsu is practical as well as an object d’art. We meticulously handcraft each piece in Kaikado’s sixth-generation Kyoto studio.
